Episode 1: The Bride Cast into the DeepA storm gathers as Ilara's village prepares a ritual sacrifice. Declaring that the body of a pure maiden will appease the deep and spare the settlement, the elders place Ilara in a flower-covered boat while her mother watches. Ilara begs to be saved, but the boat is pushed into the dark water and she is pulled beneath the surface. A tentacled creature seizes her as she sinks. Ilara reaches an ancient sword resting below, and the blade answers with a ring of golden light. He places the sword between them and recalls how Selena's own hand drove the blade into his heart. Ethel warns that because he has saved Ilara's life, he can also drag her down to remain beside him forever. Ilara now understands that surviving the sacrifice has placed her inside an older and more dangerous story.
