Ilara reaches an ancient sword resting below, and the blade answers with a ring of golden light. The power brings her face to face with a horned stranger who catches her underwater and asks whether she has finally returned to him.

Ilara begins to lose consciousness and sinks away from him. Rather than let her die, Ethel reaches for her hand, channels a glowing bond between them and offers the breath she needs to live. Their rescue becomes an unwanted intimacy, leaving Ilara alive but bound to the stranger who has mistaken her for someone from his past.Episode 3: The Name He Cannot ForgetRevived inside the deep, Ilara faces Ethel at close range while chains and the ancient sword surround them. He calls her Selena and demands that she fulfill the duty she once abandoned. Ilara insists that he has the wrong woman, but Ethel treats her denial as another act of forgetfulness. He places the sword between them and recalls how Selena's own hand drove the blade into his heart. Ethel warns that because he has saved Ilara's life, he can also drag her down to remain beside him forever. Ilara now understands that surviving the sacrifice has placed her inside an older and more dangerous story.
