When the official who once denied her aid returns to remove what he calls palace garbage, he finds mountains of gold and a newly empowered Sarah dressed in royal red. She turns his insult back on him, demonstrates the pact's power, and reveals the dark veins spreading beneath her skin as the first visible cost of her choice.
